Nissan Altima 1992. Will it roll without the motor?

I have an automatic transmission nissan altima, FWD, 1992. I heard somewhere that if you pull out the motor, the car will no longer move, even if shifted into neutral. Can anyone confirm or deny this? Thanks! (Trying to lighten up the car to use it for pulling. My friends pull cars as leg workouts.)
